As stated in target 15.2 of the United Nations sustainable development goals, it is important to promote the implementation of sustainable management of all types of forests, halt deforestation, restore degraded forests and substantially increase afforestation and reforestation globally.

In Germany, the summit on the one hand was focused on the changing climate and the importance of trees and forests for storing carbon. On the other hand, the activities showed the participants how woods are affected by the changing climate and how they can be preserved and made stable for the future.

This is the programme for the week in Kassel

These are some of the activities that took place during the LTTA in Kassel:

• Participating in the Urbaner Waldgarten project planting fruit trees from each country in an urban garden.
• Contributing to the reforestation of the Kaufungen forest
• Participating in workshops related to sustainability
• Taking part in a Fridays for the future demonstration.
• Bringing seeds for our lettuce container
• Presentations on the damage to forests in our communities due to climate change.
