Translated article about digital message in a bottle published on school homepage (Germany)

What is a digital message in a bottle? Students of the Anno-Gymnasium work with their teacher Achim Werner as part of eTwinning in a European project with five other schools.
In an eBook for the “World Ocean Day”, the young people draw attention to the environmental problems associated with the continuing flood of plastic waste and the microplastic hazard in our streams, rivers and the world's oceans.

At the same time, the 5th chapter of a continuation story, which has traveled through the five schools in different countries, is completed.
A photo mosaic was also created. In order to actively combat plastic waste in our ecosystems, many students at the participating European schools and their parents collected plastic and took photos of their activities.

Since Covid-19 will not make it possible to turn the collected plastic waste into a real work of art, an international, digital work was created instead. The picture of the little clownfish looks beautiful from a distance - but if you look closer, you can see the plastic waste that it is made of, due to the microplastics in the food chain.

The school group hopes that with their contribution to raising awareness of plastics in our environment and to passing on the message to avoid plastic waste.

Both Portuguese schools are happy to announce they have been accepted as part of the national network of Blue Schools (Escola Azul) in defense of the ocean literacy.
