I RUDAROLI
On Saturday 15th February the students from 4A PCU Culinary Art course met I Rudaroli during a meeting organised at IIS P. Sraffa.
I Rudaroli is a group of young volunteers who provide their service in a village not far from Crema and its surrounding area. They have noticed how garbage is spoiling the natural environment and they have decided to take action.
Their commitment is dictated by their sense of civic responsibility:
• they care about their village, and they want it to be clean and livable for everyone
• they are aware that everyone’s actions affect the environment as well as the balance of animal life
• they want to be an example to future generations
Moreover they think this activity is a good way to get to know other people and spend time doing something different than usual but above all useful for their community.
I Rudaroli meet twice a month. The meetings are not on fixed days, every time the day, time and area to be cleaned are decided on the Whatsapp group.
Then they write a post on their Facebook and Instagram pages, so that those who want can help them. In so doing they are also showing their peers how social networks can be used for a good cause.
They often satisfy requests for 'Help' or alerts they find on social media and they intervene, cleaning up the most critical areas. Once the collection is finished, they leave the garbage in a little visible place and contact the local municipality. Afterwards it is collected with the municipal garbage trucks.
In agreement with the Youth Council of their village, the children at the Elementary School of Pandino and Nosadello have been engaged in the creation of their future logo.
This competition has been devised as a first step to start involving schools and start planning possible partnerships in the field of awareness raising.
Also one of the Sraffa students, Mayra, from 4A PCU offered to make a logo for them.

Before the interview during a lesson with Ms Bertazzoli the students had a look at some articles about I Rudaroli on the local online press https://primatreviglio.it/cronaca/i-rudaroli-di-pandino-si-presentano-ecco-chi-siamo/ https://primatreviglio.it/cronaca/i-rudaroli-di-pandino-contro-degrado-e-incivilta-video/ and at their Facebook page. Then they wrote down questions to ask them during the meeting.
