Spring therapy

  • Spring is a particularly grateful time of the year to cultivate all senses of the children, to develop their cognitive processes as well as their creativity, to encourage communication and cooperation.

    PLANT THERAPY

The effects of plant and nature therapy have been known since the old days. Medical plants have healing abilities, while greening and blossoming plants have soothing and relaxing abilities, They are also able to delight and teach us. The windowsills at the Klaipeda Litorina School start blossoming every spring and later are adorned with colourful flowers. While planting and caring for their plants, the pupils get to know the different parts of the plants, their features, learn to name the colours and different plants, as well as find out which plants are used for medicine and which ones are used for decorations. They also get to draw, craft and mould various plants, as well as create postcards commemorating Father’s and Mother’s day festivities.

    ZENDOODLE (SPRING THERAPY)

Easter is one of the most colourful holidays. But this year's holidays are marked by the colour of war. Children are also worried about the turmoil shaking the world, that is why this year‘s Easter egg at Klaipeda Litorina School was made using one of the art therapies - zendoodle. It is a meditative drawing technique that requires concentration, calms the mind and soul, helps one to relax and forget, and enables even those who do not know how to draw to create beautiful, mysterious patterns.

    Spring is here!

Even if I didn't have winter with snow and ice this year, we are happy to wellcome the spring, with paintings, greeting cards, made of origami, hopsticks and with a lot of love and martisoare , with white and red cord.

    SPRING FUN

Children successfully combine workshops in melotherapy, storytelling, and movement therapy.
The children enjoy spring as they know best, through fun and games. The  visually impaired children participated in storytelling, music therapy and  climbing therapy workshops.
These fun activities have the role of helping them to be more confident, more responsible, more involved.

    NATURE'S ABC

The beauty of spring was turned into ABC by the 3rd grade students. Objects found in the nature helped to remember the graphic image of the letter, developed attention, fine motor skills and creativity. We would like to invite you to get acquainted with the Lithuanian alphabet!

    SENSORY GARDEN OF MINIATURES

This garden is designed to relax, reduce stress and anxiety, relieve emotional tension. In order to interest the children, the authors of the garden hid the keys that visitors have to find themselves. Then the gates of all the gardens will open and everyone will be invited to the therapy of smells, colors and tactile sensation.

    SPRING BRANCHES

The trees blossomed slowly, the grass turned green too, the insects started their activity and the children go out to play outside even more. Spring has arrived and an essential thing we respect when working with visually impaired students is to help them understand the changes that are happening in nature. The interactive activity helped them to discover the essential characteristics of spring, what actually happens in nature, and how we concretely identify all these changes.
After gathering fresh twigs from the park, each child created their own story.
Some created a ladder to the sky, sprinkled with flowers and butterflies, or a house for the Fairy Spring, others created an ornament, a symbol of spring.
Very enthusiastic, the children smelled the spring”s aromas, they practiced fine motor skills,  worked in a team, developed creativity through art and improvised stories.

USE OF ART THERAPY FOR RECOGNITION OF SYMBOLS

After getting acquainted with the components of an egg, children have realized that the egg has long been a symbol of life. The meaning given to each part of the egg are as follows: the shell symbolizes the sky, while the egg whites symbolize the moon and lastly the yolk symbolizes the sun. The newfound knowledge brought much joy to the kids. Exercises for drawing symbols allowed the creativity of the children to shine. Exercises for cutting and gluing of pictures developed their cutting and fine-motor skills. While the creation of the Giant Easter Egg not only taught children to work in cooperation but also brought a lot of positive emotions and pride for the job well done.

The visually impaired children from Romania wish you all
