Primary school dr. Franjo Tuđman Brela, Croatia
Klapa music is a form of traditional a cappella singing in Dalmatia, Croatia. The word klapa actually means as "a group of friends" and it stems from church singing. The motifs in klapa songs celebrate love, wine (grapes), country (homeland) and sea. In 2012 klapa is put in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
Klapa is a cappella music, but it is possible to add a gentle guitar and a mandolin .
The Festival of the Dalmatian Klapas in Omiš (a city 10 miles western from Brela) is the best known music festival and has a long tradition in Klapa music. In the videos below you can see and llisten to our local klapa Berulia from Brela.
