Kumica Barica

This statue stays on the top of stairway to upper part of Dolac, the main market in Zagreb. "Kumica" means little godmother but that's the way women sellin their village products are called. Sculpture is created by Stjepan Gračan and stays on the place from 2006.

“The only kumica who never leaves Dolac”, local people like to say.

This monument evokes the fish auction, and is performed by a group of women in full activity. It is a tribute to the women from Póvoa de Varzim, who have always had an important place in the fishing community.
