Real life escape room

  • After the success of the digital escape room the students expressed their interest in creating a real life escape room. As such, the students from Dasoupolis primary school (KB) transformed their multi purpose room to a real life escape room. Here's how they did it!!!

    STEP 1 - CREATING CHALLENGES

Students made jigsaw puzzles, an electronic matching game, wrote questions about South Africa, a challenge to put the US states from west to east and the US presidents in order from oldest to newest, an international food quiz with magnets and even a challenge to put a song's lyrics in the right order. Every challenge had to do with the countries in our project: America, Australia, Cyprus, India, Japan, South Africa, Spain and Taiwan.

STEP 2 - CREATING THE ANSWERS FOR THE CHALLENGES

Each puzzle was done twice so the escape room participants could find the answers from somewhere. For example the song lyrics were done twice. The first copy was cut into different verses. The second copy was displayed in the escape room for the participants to read. Similarly, a list of the US presidents was displayed in the escape room so the participants could see the list and complete the challenge.

STEP 3 - CREATING THE ESCAPE ROOM

With the help of many teachers, the multi purpose room was transformed into an escape room. Tables were set up and the challenges were put on the tables. The answers for the challenges were displayed for the participants.

STEP 4 - THE PARTICIPANTS ENTER

After the challenges were displayed, 2 classes entered the escape room. Each class was given a challenge sheet. Every time a challenge was completed the participants had a tick placed next to the challenge on the challenge sheet. One class started on the left side and another class on the right side of the room. After 20 minutes each class changed sides. A third class stood behind the challenges checking that the participants had done the challenge!

    STEP 5 - ESCAPING

At the end of the activity the challenge sheets were collected and the winners were announced! The winning class "escaped" the room!!!
