Preparatory Tasks

  • This is a warm-up stage to motivate our learners, both the Greek and the Turkish school team, to get to know each other as eTwinning partners before the main task. To this end, some stimulating lead-in tasks and funny engagement activities are carried out at the computer lab, appropriate for primary learners, as follows:

    1st step: learners make jigsaw puzzles on the computer which include photos of each one of the two school teams as well as photos of the two towns, Messolonghi and Tuzla/Istanbul (e.g. sights/attractions and landscape/natural scenery), in order to know each other through visual presentations.

    2nd step: Greek and Turkish learners create a word cloud using the Tagul tool with their first names and their national flag at the computer lab and exchange their tagul word clouds.

    3rd step: learners are engaged in a webquest activity at the computer lab under the guidance of their teacher in order to find more information about their partner’s town (e.g. geography, history, population, etc). They can use wikipedia either in their mother tongues or/and in English or Spanish to read info. They are also engaged in a video watching task on YouTube to learn about Istanbul and Messolonghi accordingly.
