    CREATIVE IDEAS FOR PRESCRIBED READING

    1. LAPBOOKS - books about the books....

    2. A BOOK IN THE BOX - our students had to make a box with everything that associates with chosen book..

    COLOURFUL LITERATURE

With a help of our native language teachers, the students made a project "Colourful Literature". The students drew some pictures for the well - known stories or poems and made short videos from it. The aim of the project is to develop reading competences and to encourage other students to read more.

“Świtezianka” worksheets- some worksheets made by students concerning one of the set books “Świtezianka”.

    .

Comic books – students created their own comic books.

PICTURE-BASED STORY – students wrote some stories based on chosen pictures.

We had a class about Croatian Tales of Long Ago, a book written by the famous Croatian writer, Ivana Brlić Mažuranić. Students learned what is a fairytale and its characteristics. They enjoyed making the book characters with natural materials and they were very creative. It was a correlation of History, Art and Nature.

Based on the trading cards created (personalities, recipes, places and the surprise word), 5th, 6th and 7th graders - a total of 7 classes - wrote stories, randomly drawing one card from each category.  We did that during the English classes but also during the trans curricular etwinning class.

Then they picked one of clay heroes created by the Lithuanian students and invented who they were, why they were heroes and so on. From a tooth wanting to stop his owner from eating junk food, to a beret-wearing Italian hero speaking English with a French accent to Groot, they had fun inventing and being creative.

During quarantine, 4th and 7th graders wrote a different kind of diary, from another perspective, be it the object on their left, a Roblox character, a fridge, a bathroom sink etc. They had fun reading the entries during our online meetings. Teacher - Loredana Popa
