French and Serbian pupils talked about demcracy and its characteristics.

They have found out that the following are the major characteristics of Democracy: 

Citizens rule - The power of the government must rest in the hands of the citizens. 

Free elections - In democratic sociaty all citizens are allowed to vote how they want. There are no restrictions on race, gender, or wealth.  

Majority rule with Individual rights - The majority of the people will rule, but the rights of the individual are protected.

Limitations on Lawmakers - In a democracy, the elected officials have certain, limited powers. 

Citizen participation - The citizens of a democracy must participate for it to work.
