How will eTwinning support our aims?

  • Online communication (via our linked eTwinning project: "From eTwinning to Erasmus") prior to and during the event will enable pupils to gain a better understanding of the cultural differences that exist between themselves and their European peers, as well as developing strong intercultural dialogue between staff. It will begin with conducting initial research into "who we are and where we live" in Wales and partner schools and exchange emails and photographs/pictures about our respective countries.

Future activities will include organizing a Kahoot quiz on Skype that pupils can experience together. Pupils in all countries will start to look at cultural aspects of their local areas making links/comparisons between where they live with a view to exchanging information, giving a real focus to learning.

School visits will enable teachers and support staff from within all partner countries to discuss experiences and strategies through which the sharing of good practice can take place. Learning walks, observations of initiatives and interventions will all contribute to an atmosphere of professional discussion and learning. This mutually beneficial exchange would also allow for opportunities to discuss specialisms such as areas of Additional Learning Needs (ALN), and will enable strong and sustainable partnerships to be forged.

Reflective practice will help inform on future pedagogy across all schools which form part of the exchange and will contribute to the adoption of good practice.
Reflective sessions at the end of each day, including iBook and blog posts will contribute to raising awareness of the different activities and practices that schools could offer within their own countries to improve the vocational curriculum and inclusivity within the classroom.

School visits will also enable visiting pupils to engage in shared activities, experiencing different peer groups and learning events than they would otherwise be used to, thereby increasing their breadth of understanding and learning beyond boundaries. Peer to peer interactions will also strengthen their sense of global citizenship.

Cultural experiences and visits will enhance pupil's understanding of the significance of equality, diversity and inclusion, and the benefits that it brings to communities. It will also further underpin the importance of global responsibility.
