What do we hope to achieve?

  • The project aims to be fully inclusive in nature by providing a valuable opportunity for international special schools and specialist provisions within mainstream schools to work together, enriching educational outcomes for all participants, with several key objectives aiming to:-

    1. Improve Pedagogy through focusing specifically on inclusion and responding to Additional Learning Needs (ALN). Reflective practice combined with observation and the sharing of international good practice will enhance skills and competencies of those teachers and support staff attending.

    2. Provide cultural and linguistic experiences in line with European priorities, through peer to peer interactions for disadvantaged pupils where pupils experience increased feelings of empowerment, a stronger sense of global citizenship and an awareness of their role in sustainable development.

    3. Promote experiences beyond boundaries, where pupils have the opportunity to access
experiences regardless of their social background or learning ability, thereby increasing self efficacy and resilience, and reducing the occurrences of early school leavers.

    4. Forge new and reciprocal links with the European schools, that enable sustainable relationships and continued sharing of information, particularly as international good practice changes and evolves, thus promoting the acquisition of new skills and competencies.

    5. Develop better understanding of responding to well-being needs, through exploration and sharing of information on how partners seek to ensure the well-being of both pupils and staff.

Overall, these five objectives will promote the acquisition of new skills and competencies in both
pupils and staff, whilst focusing on building self-efficacy, empowerment and resilience in pupils and
equipping them to complete their educational programs.

As an overall goal, our Erasmus project will aim at providing a better understanding of inclusive learning & show how with simple changes we as teachers can make our classrooms more inclusive. Furthermore, it aims to help us identify strategies to get the additional support we need.

Our application was based on an existing eTwinning project “From eTwinning to Erasmus”. The combined use of eTwinning & Erasmus+ in this way will enable our partnerships to provide a mutually beneficial teaching & learning framework based on total inclusion. Virtual exchanges through eTwinning & the Erasmus physical mobilities will help us to develop our young people’s core, soft & digital skills in an inclusive way to become global citizens. Our parents/carers & governors can view the results of our student project work via the eTwinning online platform.

Erasmus through eTwinning will allow us as educators to add value to our teaching methods. Through the exchange and sharing of best practice inclusive learning
ideas, tools & resources we will be able to increase the range of a class based project to encompass whole school involvement during the physical mobilities. We will be able to motivate our pupils through providing an authentic audience for their work. For pupils with additional leaning needs, learning from their peers is a key tool for success. Meeting real people during the mobilities who can answer their questions and show first hand their culture & life style will lead to lifelong learning for participants who will become the global citizens. Learning will be more natural and meaningful.
