    The pinetree

In our kindergarten we have many pinetrees. The pinetree is one of the most common trees in Norway, about 30% of all the wood in Norway is pine. And we have it from the south of Norway and almost all the way up to the north.
The pinetree can be as high as 40 meters, but the most common is 20-30 meters. The diameter can be up to 150 cm and they can be 500-600 years old. It came to Norway after the ice age, so it`s been here for a long time.
In the kindergarten the children loves to play with the pine needles and pinecones, we also use them for different art project. In the winter the moose and big birds eat the pine needles.
The pine usually use about three years to put seeds, so you can see three stages of a pinecone on one branch.
