    • How we make wooden products-Polish students

In March 2016 there were two trips- educational activities in the forest run by the Workers in Forest District - Mrs. Jolanta Michnowicz and Mr. Piotr Dziekciowskiego . Classes woods were very interesting.
Within the project we made the wood products that a group of teachers and students took with them to Slovenia at the second meeting of partner schools of the project.Forester Peter Dziekciowski offered assistance in obtaining wood from the surrounding forests. Bent branches, pieces of branches, tree stumps have served our imagination. Some of the material acquired from individuals.
Adults took care of cutting, shaping, grinding each subject. Students decorate, paint, oil and wax products.
The resulting kitchen bowls and baskets impregnated with linseed oil and waxed a mixture of linseed oil and beeswax. These items can be used in the kitchen for food contact, because they don't have any chemical fixatives and dyes.
Everyday objects - office and school toolboxes, candle holders, coasters under cups, decorated with folk motifs: Kurpie, Kashubian and Lowicki- characteristic of our country.Performing products acquired basic knowledge about the types of wood and the way of treatment and impregnation. Our struggle carpentry supported workers in Forest District, enriching our collection of objects with beautiful wooden owls, fun pencils, bookmarks, key chains, notebooks and more.

Our way to wood products picked up by a group of teachers and students to Slovenia

Arrangements for the construction of the products started a few weeks ago. Teachers and students were wondering what we can do. During the talks there have been many ideas for realisation our products. Unfortunately not all of them were able to do because of for reasons of technical base and resources of the school.

However we are creative and we tried to get out of this difficult situation. Parents of students and some friends came to help us. We have partnered with Forest District in Trzebież. (State Forests), which included the honorary patronage of our project.

Forester Piotr Dziekciowski offered assistance in obtaining wood from the surrounding forests. Bent branches, pieces of branches, tree stumps have served our imagination. Some of the materials we got from the private individuals.

Before we started work we gained some basic knowledge about the properties of certain types of wood. We turned special attention to the tree species found in the Puszcza Wkrzańska - forested areas of our region.

Findings and selection of items that we wanted to do, verified technical possibilities of the school. We have established that they are objects of everyday use.

Adults took care of cutting, shaping, grinding each product. Students decorated, painted, oiled and waxed products. We obtained kitchen bowls and baskets impregnated corn oil, linseed and waxed a mixture of linseed oil and beeswax. These items can be used in the kitchen for fruit, dried fruit, sweets, biscuits - they may come into contact with food, because they don’t have any chemical fixatives and dyes.

Everyday objects - toolboxes for office and school, candle holders, coasters for wood were covered in folk motifs (Kurpiowskimi, Łowickimi & Kaszubskimi) characteristic of our country. We used ecological paint and varnish compatible with EU standards for wood products intended for children. Our job gave us a lot of satisfaction. We gained knowledge of wood, its treatment, impregnation methods, techniques of decorative and practical skills.

This whole thing was completed by the educational trip to the forest. Classes prepared by foresters were demonstrative, practical and took place in the field.
