• Natural cultural heritage: landscapes, flora and fauna

The students were given some research to do at home. They were supposed to find materials about how some organizations have come up with a list of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. By reading through the 'Handbook for Teachers',they found out the following data:

- most recent effort has been to create a list of seven natural wonders chosen through a global polling from 2007 - 2011

- the list announced on November 11, 2011 includes the following sites: 

1. Amazon Rain Forest

2. Halong Bay

3. Iguazu Falls

4. Jeju Island

5. Komodo National Park

6. Puerto Princesa Underground River

7. Table Mountain

The teams identified important natural heritage sites in Finland/Italy.

Geological-Naturalistic School trip to 'Lago della Vacca', in the Dolomites (northern Italy)

 

 

 

 

The students stated the geography and resources of natural heritage sites found within Finland/Italy and discussed about the importance of natural heritage sites.

FURTHERMORE, Some background information was given with regards to the Seven Ancient Wonders of the World.

We underlined that, just as these sites (some of them no more existing) have been passed down to centuries, and are still recognized in the world, natural places within our own country and community have historical and cultural importance.
