students' conference 2016 Aurich

  • International Angels at the Ulricianum

    Saturday April 9th

Saturday was the first day of a great week. The day before on Friday all of the groups arrived and moved into the hostel. Most of the people were exhausted from their trip so there was no program on that day. Saturday started early. The first point in the program was the official opening in the “Güterschuppen”. The headmaster of our school Dieter Schröder and Heiko Schmelz a deputy of the Bundestag made a speech and praised the members of the Erasmus + family. Also the Big Band of our school played some music and a few gymnasts showed their moves on the trampoline to us. After the official opening a group picture was taken and we started the school rally in the international groups. Sometimes it was a bit difficult because some doors were locked an we had to go another way. But in the end we all did very well. Thereafter it was time for lunch. Just like when we had breakfast we were divided in two groups – the grey and green group. The group that didn't eat had some free time to spend. After lunch the town rally took place. The German students guided the other students past some sights and told them facts about Aurich. At the end of the rally we went back to the youth hostel. Next we did some group building activities in the international groups to get to know each other. When we finished the games it was time for dinner again in the two groups. Afterwards all of us went to the school in the “Güterschuppen” where the German students showed their dance and taught it to all students. We ended the day with a bit of music and dancing. Then it was time to go back to the youth hostel and get some rest for the next days.

    Sunday

We started the 3rd day of the Erasmus+ week like every day with a breakfast. At 9:15h we went to the school and started preparing our marketstalls. Then every country presented on what they have been working on in case of the topic 'Think Globally' to the others. The Czech Republic Erasmus+ members for example turned a little movie about how many cars passed a main road during 24 hours. The Polish members showed a little DIY movie where they explained how to build a feeding trough for birds out of an empty plastic bottle. After presenting all projects, movies and facts to everyone we went back to the youth hostel at 12:00h for lunch. When everyone finished eating, we met in our international groups at 13:30h. We had to collect some ideas for the movie we were going to turn. In the international groups we had to decide which problem we want to show in context with an environmental problem and it's solution. In the afternoon we had some freetime and the most students went to the bowling centre but some also went to the swimming pool 'De Baalje' near the youth hostel. In the evening after dinner we went back to the Güterschuppen of the school for dancing the dances. This evening it was the turn for the Polish and the Italian dance.

On the third day of Erasmus+ we went to the EEZ (energy- , experience- and education center ) .

The EEZ is very new in Aurich. It should be an attraction for tourists an also a out-of-school learn place.

For tourists and visitors there is an exhibition with the topic energy, in which you can leran some facts about energy by playing games, by watch short movies and by reading texts. Also there is a longer 360° movie which shows some impressions about energy and nature. There is a second exhibition that changes the topic and the type of exhibition.

For classes there are labors and rooms with computers and screens.

Also Enercon, a huge company of Aurich, use the EEZ for educate their apprentices or for show their work.

At the beginning the manager present us some facts about the center, e.g. what is the idea of the EEZ, which companys use the EEZ and so on.

After that we splited up in groups, some students went to the exhibiton, some went on an guidance through the building and some went to the part of the EEZ, where Enercon has their little exhibition and after that to the production hall, next to the EEZ, in order to see how a rotor blade is produced.

At 12h we have our lunch in the EEZ and after that we changed the type of exhibition or guidance, so everyone can see everything.

After the visit in the EEZ we wnt with the bus back to school to prepare us for the movie and for practising our scene.

Then we have dinner in the youth hostel.

In the evening we had an impro theatre workship with Miss Duensing and Miss Kraffczyk, two drama teachers.

    Wednesday April 13th

On Wednesday the 13th of April our bus left at 8.30 which meant for us that we had to get up earlier. The bus took us to Bremerhaven, more specific to the Klimahaus.
Our visit at the Klimahaus started with a presentation by a woman. She told us how the climate change effects our environment.
When the presentation was over we were allowed to see and experience the exhibition in our international groups.
We saw many interesting things and found out how living is like in other countries on the 8th longitude.
After we went through the whole exhibition, we had freetime and were able to discover Bremerhaven by ourselves.
In the early afternoon the bus took us back to Aurich and we had some time for lunch and relaxing until 8pm.
That evening we met up in the Güterschuppen to play games and dance.

In the first game we played, everyone got a number and the leader of the game called two numbers. Both had to get up get a broom from the middle and had to sweep a fabric into the opponents goal.
The second game wasn’t as exhausting as the first. Everyone had to get a sheet of paper in a different color. One guy sat in the middle of our circle and he held up a color. The color he hold up could move one chair left. When someone was sitting on your lap you couldn’t move when your sheet was held up. The winner was the one who sat on their chair first.
After these games were over we danced all of our dances again.

All in all this day was another incredible day of our unforgettable week at Erasmus+.

The Thursday was the last day we spent together. That's why we decided to visit Norderney, one of the East Frisian Islands.

Our day started earlier as usual because we had to leave at 9 o’clock by bus to get our ferry. When we arrived on Norderney, the whole Erasmus+ group walked together on the dunes and the beach where we took some group pictures. After that we had some free time in our international groups. Every group had some money for their group at disposal and could decide what they wanted to do with it. Most of us either ate ice cream or drank hot chocolate. However, Because of the sunny and warm weather most groups preferred ice cream and milkshakes. Moreover, we walked through the city, stopped at some souvenirshops and supermarkets and summarized enjoyed this sunny day a lot. We had decided to go back to the beach afterwards when we saw a big E+ written in the sand from the Czech Erasmus+ group „wink“-Emoticon. That was our inspiration to write a big Erasmus+ into the sand with all the names of the participating countries underneath it. Luckily, we had enough time to finish it before we had to go back to the harbour.

Back in Aurich we had lunch together and got ready for the farewell party under the motto ‘Black and White’. After the arrival at the Güterschuppen, we watched the movie which we had shot a few days before. It was amazing to see the result of our hard work that was only possible because of our team work and the tight friendships we have made. We danced all the dances we had learned through the whole week and spent a great time together Unfortunately, the party ended at midnight, when we had to say goodbye to all the Eramus+2016 participants.
