Our course is on the challenge of inclusion of children with special educational needs in our schools. Below is an outline of some of the course activties.
Monday 23rd April
- Self Presentations by particpants on their countries, schools and how children with special educational needs are currrently being supported in their schools.
- "Blindness and deafness in inclusive education" - Lecture by prof. Antonio Rebelo from the University of Lisbon
- Synthesis of work done
Tuesday 24th April
- Visit to the PEL\CRTIC school and observation of different classes
- Inclusion of Special Needs students in mainstream classes
- Reflection about the inclusive methodologies used in public schools
- Visit to Sesimbra castle and Sesimbra old town
Wednesday 25th April
- Characteristics of children with autism: "the different kinds of autism"
- The TEACCH program
- Group work : visit to different classrooms
- Communication technologies for students with special needs: Boardmaker, Araword & HagaQue by Professor Ana Sofia Giriboni from CREF Education
- Lecture on the "Future Classroom Lab"
Thursday 26th April
- Visit to CREF institution
- Visit to Cercizimbra institution: Preparation of special needs persons for active citizenship - Presented by Mrs. Vera Reis, director
- Presentation of the Portuguese Educational system: Students with special needs in mainstream schools by Professor Ana Sofia Giriboni from CREF Education
Friday 27th April
- Visit to Antonio Augusta Louro basic school/Torre da Marinha, Seixal
- Introduction to cerebral palsy by APCAS
- Workshop:Boccia
- Final group presentation
