THIS IS HOW CEIP SERRANO CLAVERO SCHOOL WORKED:

Stefani, tha language assistant in our school did some readings giving the students the opportunity to get used to the american accent:

1st) In the English classroom, we commented aloud what were the most interesting paragraphs we had previously read at home and also commented on our classmates´choices.

2nd) We went to the computers classroom in order to write on the forum of the TwinSpace and answer the questions about the different chapters. It was so exciting and meaningful!

Click on the video below to see how we worked. We hope you like it!

In our school, during different sessions, we have reread the chapters of the book "The Canterville ghost", these chapters had been previously read by the students at home. In these sessions, girls and boys have talked about what happen in the story and explained each other the doubts, vocabulary and meanings,  that they could find in the reading. Later we have answered the questions about the differents chapters in the created forum to do it.

Last session about the reading of the story "The Canterville Ghost". The activity consisted in a set of selected questions about each chapter that we could find in the TwinSpace. In turns, we answered all the questions posed from their point of view. Students were very participative and we have a wonderful time commenting this wonderful work.

    Nea Artaki, Greece, E class

The reading process that we followed was that of "group reading". Pupils decided that this way they could help each other understand the text and that it was more fun.

The text was projected through the interactive whiteboard to all pupils.

The first chapters were read aloud by the teacher whereas the next ones were read aloud by pupils that wanted to do so. During the reading lessons, pupils were encouranged to keep notes.

After each reading sessions, the main points of our classroom discussions were related to vocabulary, characters description, plot development and prediction. During the discussion, pupils were encouranged to use both first and second language (greek and english).

These reading sessions gave us the opportunity to experience peer learning and to participate in a common experience in classroom as team members. We had a lot of fun doing so!
