    REPORTS from the meeting

    Istanbul, Turkey  - 17th to 23rd February 2018 (by Emma Moore /HU/)

Monday was the day of the first meeting, so the first programme was ice-breaking games to get to know each other better. The Turkish students showed us their education system. In a slide show presentation they explaned the sense of this programme. They also showed us videos of discrimination.

On Tuesday first we introduced each other after a little talking. Then every one of us got a piece of paper, that showed the life of an imaginary made up child. We needed to imagine ourselves in their situation. They asked questions of the caracter’s life. If it was true, we needed to take a small step forward. After all the questions were asked, we looked around. Who was at the front, that caracter had a good life, had opportunities for more things than who were at the back. After this we visited Sultanbeyli Mülteciler, a health, community and education centre for refugees.  In the early afternoon we had a boat trip on the Bosporus, then went sightseeing in Üsküdar.
On Wednesday all the children in this programme painted a piece of the logo, and then we put all the pieces together and made the picture. During the next programme we went down to a big room. There were three groups. The first was religion, the second was origin and the third was area . We all said words for the groups. Each of us took a blank paper and wrote one word of each group on it. We shuffled them and we put one on each of our back. We needed to guess what was on our back. When we all knew, we spoke what he or she would  do. Then we all talked about the feelings. In the afternoon we had a tour in Balat.
On Thursday the Romanian, the Spanish and the Hungarian children presented their country, their schools and their education system in Power Point presentation. In the IT classroom we did a short video of the week. This day was the intercultural afternoon. All the children danced and some of them even sang songs and dressed in tradicional clothes.
Friday was the final day. In the IT classroom we answered three questions, then filled out a feedback. In the afternoon all of us students went to Topkapi palace while the teachers had lunch and discussed the week’s events.
