World Food Day, 16 October 2017

  • Dear Friends,

FAO celebrates World Food Day each year on 16 October to commemorate the founding of the Organization in 1945. Events are organized in over 150 countries across the world, making it one of the most celebrated days of the UN calendar. These events promote worldwide awareness and action for those who suffer from hunger and for the need to ensure food security and nutritious diets for all.

World Food Day is a chance to show our commitment to Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2 – to achieve Zero Hunger by 2030.

It’s also a day for us to celebrate the progress we have already made towards reaching #ZeroHunger. More information here.

Today we, pupils from Vasil Levski Comprehensive School. Troyan, Bulgaria, spoke about World Food Day, starving children on the world, healthy eathing...After our conversation, we played food-themed games. Would like join us?! :-)

    Hi, there!

Yesterday we played your games "Silhoutte" and "Fruits & Vegetables". It was a great chance to remember some vocabulary and learn new words. It was also an opportunity to discuss the importance of eating healthy food.

At our school we also celebrate "World Food Day". Students from 6th grade made very nice posters with the Science teachers to display in the school canteen.

Pupils from Basic school " Ivan Hadjiiski" - Troyan , Bulgaria were happy to play the computer today. They found the game of Mrs Marinova very interesting. Did you play the game?

Today, we brought our fruits at school. But most of all we loved pomegrante!
