Activity C8, Christmas Fair in Wolow

  • Preparing the charity action - the Christmas Fair for Madzia.

    1. Collaboration with the Town Library in Wołów.

Every year our local library runs workshops for schools and kindergartens where Christmas decorations are made. We asked the manager of the library, Mrs Joanna Krasowska, to give us some of the things made by children from all the schools involved so that they can be sold during our fair. Of course neither the manager nor the workshop participants minded. The workshops can be seen at  https://www.facebook.com/bibliotekawolow/

    1. Cooperation with Continuing and Vocational Education Centre in Wołów.

The trainee florists, working under the supervision of Mrs Agnieszka Krupa and Magdalena Kuska, donated lovely Christmas wreaths. So they            combines work and pleasure! Their wreaths sold like hot cakes in a blink of an eye!

    1. Visit at the Centre For People with Special Needs in Wołów.

Our visits at the centre have almost become a tradition. As usual, we had some good time eating delicious cakes. This time, though, we did not go there to read together, but we went there to make Christmas decorations and glass balls of very unusual shapes. We are really grateful to the staff and the ones in care for the invitation. Again, it was very nice of them to agree to donate the products of our visits so that they could be sold at the fair. So if you wanted to get a glass ball shaped like F1 car, you had to visit our school. As Christmas was on the way, we sang some carols and our pupil, Natasza, played the guitar.

    1.  The Youth Fostering Centre in Koźmin Wielkopolski

Thanks to dissemination planned in our project we manager to reach as far as to Koźmin Wielkopolski (120 km away from our school) and the local Youth Fostering Centre. Mrs Agata Ożóg-Jóźwik, together with her teenagers made a wonderful reindeer and asked, on behalf of the boys, to give to give it to Madzia.

    1. School preparations before the Christmas Fair
    • Students directly involved in the project sparked so much energy among others that even 7-year olds joined the action. Working like horses, together with their parents and teachers, they did their best for Madzia. After all the necessary ‘raw materials’ were bought an our  reading room turned into an artistic workshop.

    •  Taking advantage of the occasion, our students prepared a small folder briefly presenting Christmas customs of our partner countries which was sent to our local partners together with Christmas cards and wishes. The folder was also used during regular lessons where the customs and traditions were presented.

The Day has come – The Fair is on!

Finally the day had come. Our students turned into volunteers, the school corridor turned into a marketplace where other students, teachers, parents and grandparents as well as third age university students bought the decorations.

Everyone could find something beautiful. The fair was exceptional as it was much bigger than ever before. And better than ever before! It lasted three days! And, most importantly, we collected 4580,66 zlotys (the equivalent of approx. 1100 euros) for Madzia Nalepa. And this is what we are proud of most. An enormous amount of work was done by Marta Cieśla, Małgorzata Brzezicka, Agnieszka Fęglerska – Warchoł, Barbara Majer and Aurela Sawicka who coordinated children’s work. This all is by all means to convert into the smile on Madzia’s face! Good job!

We would like to thank the parents, especially of kids from 4a and 4b primary. These are no people, these are angels!

What a surprise! Madzia visits us at school!

Nobody had expected that. On Friday before Christmas Madzia visited our school and their group. She was  doing well and could take part in the class Christmas supper. We gave Madzia and her mum the funds we had collected and of course the lovely reindeer from our new partners in Koźmin Wielkopolski. They were more than happy!

Mrs Agnieszka Nalepa, Madzia’s mum writes about it on her blog and Facebook.

My dear! We did it! We happily took part in the class Christmas super. Thank you very much for the time! Here I would like to thank Mrs Jadzia Trześniowska, the form teacher for her care and each word of support, and in much the same way other teachers, too. Thank you, Małgorzata Gajos, the HT and their deputes for being Madzia your priority, in spite of millions of other things. Thank you Magdalena Półtorak for help whenever we needed it. Thank you all wonderful pupils, especially 7th grade primary, for doing everything for Madzia so that she feels one of you all the time. Finally thank you parents of all these wonderful children. Not only for the material dimension of the help, but in the first place for bringing up such wonderful people having so much empathy and heart for others. Thank you!

Another ‘ thank you’ for the boys from Group 5 of the Youth Foster Centre for the lovely gigantic reindeer!
