COSENZA'S SWABIAN CASTEL - KING ALARICO'S BURIAL

On  August 24, 410 AD, Alaric, king of the Visigoths, entered with his army in Rome and sacked it. Then he headed south, to reach and invade African coasts. But the king, then, forty, died suddenly near Cosenza. The legend tells that the Visigoths, to prevent the Romans from violating the tomb of their king, diverted the course of the river Busento and buried in his bed Alaric with the weapons, his horse and his treasure and subsequently restored the normal course of the waters. The slaves who had worked to divert the course of the river were killed because they did not reveal the secret.
