Interpretation services at the event 

We are able to provide interpretation services for French, Spanish and German on the day. 

Interpreters are recruited from trainee interpreters for the event/

Your two students will each choose to research and represent one topic on the day.

Please note the following:

Topic A - 

Interpreting services for this topic will only be available in the afternoon on the day when all delegates are in one room. Please let the student know who is covering this topic, that it will not be possible to use another language during the morning debate, and that their opening statement should be in English. In the afternoon they can speak in English, German, French or Spanish during discussions.

Topic B - 

Interpreting services for this topic will be available all day. Please let the student know who is covering this topic, that they may prepare their opening two minute statement in either English, French, Spanish or German and to please send us the transcript in advance (if it is in French, Spanish or German). Please let them know that they may use French, Spanish or German at anytime throughout the day during discussions as we have interpreters available.

Speaking in a European language is not mandatory, but we would encourage students to try to do so, and they can do so as little or as much as they like. 

Should students wish to present their whole two minute opening statement in another language, we would ask you to let us know, and provide us with the transcript in advance, but no later than 10 November, so that we can pass it on to the interpreters.

Please highlight to your students wishing to speak in another language the request to speak slowly, clearly and naturally and with regard for the interpreters. Here is a guide for using interpreters produced by the European Commission's interpreting service.
