Mock Council 2017 Format

  • The event will run from 10am-3.45pm approximately. Arrival times will be staggered, to ensure everyone will be checked in, in plenty of time for the event beginning. We will inform you in due course of your specific arrival time.

    Please see this document for the format on the day:

    Please note that this year your students are also required to work briefly in country groupings in advance (see the format). We will put them in touch with each other on email.

    Groupings are necessarily somewhat arbitrary and groups of countries may not always share a single point of view. The schools in groups are encouraged to make contact with the other group members before the Mock Council to nominate a single representative and, if possible, define a single position for the discussion with the UK.

    Group 1: France and Germany;

    Group 2: Belgium, the Netherlands and Luxembourg;

    Group 3: Poland, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia;

    Group 4: Austria, Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Slovenia,

    Group 5: Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece;

    Group 6: Ireland, Malta, Cyprus;

    Group 7: Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia;

    Group 8: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania

    Please let us know who the student representative of your country grouping is for the day as soon as they are chosen, for meetings with the UK delegation, sat in a different room (together with members of the organising team) for a session in the morning and a session in the afternoon.  Each country grouping can also feel free to have a maximum of two representatives of the group to go together and meet with the UK delegation if they would like to have two from the group to represent the grouping together, instead of just one representative.

    On the day a member the students from the Northern Irish school will come and ask the representatives in turn to exit the main proceedings to go and talk with the UK delegation in a separate room. However, the representatives can also refuse the request if they do not wish to leave the main proceedings at that time.
