Feedback from the French, Polish and Spanish pupils

  • Welcome to the Polish students!

As a part of eTwinning, on Tuesday, 28th February, we had the opportunity to attend to a presentation of Polish students dressed with colors of their country (red and white).
First, as introduction, two French students made a short presentation of our high school and the French school system. They talked about our high school facilities and the three grades up to the baccalaureate.

Afterward, a Polish student made a presentation of his country and showed a short video with Poland landscapes, its monuments, the presidential palace and the national stadium.
Then, another Polish student showed a video about Poland history, its evolution, its wars, to nowadays, a country member of the European Union.
Finally, we played a very short quiz with presents as rewards.

The second part of the presentations made by the Polish students were about cinema, music, sport, Chelm and their school.
Firsly, they presented the Polish cinema. Therefore, they evoked the famous film director, producer and scriptwriter Franco-Polish Roman Polanski. They also showed the trailer of a film named Ida, made by Pawel Pawlikowski.

Then, for the Polish music, they made us listen to a few songs from Polish singers, quite varied with different style of music: Fryderyck Chopin with classic music, Z.B.U.K.U with rap, Margaret and Cleo with pop music... etc.

After that, they showed us popular Polish sports, like football, volleyball, ski jumping and handball, by adding some famous sportsmen with.

Then, they finished their presentation with their town, called « Chelm» which is a pretty old city with old churches especially, and their school.

The Polish school has a particularity that in France we don't have; they have a military class with a military training and a real army uniform.

Finally, to conclude their intervention, a Ukrainian girl made a brief presentation on her country, by presenting its location and its characteristics, as the food, the culture...etc.
In my view, I found it pleasant to discover a culture of a country that, after all, we don't know very well. Besides, the students and the teacher were really great and it was nice that they brought back some clothes representing the colors of their country and that they made a quiz at the end with us.

It was a very enjoyable experience to meet with French in reality. I hope in the future I'll come to France one more time, because I want to see Notre Dame inside.

The main advantage of students exchange is that you can widen cultural awarness. The second advantage is that you can develop a sense of being a part of Europe, understand cultural differences, change perceptions and images of another country and combat stereotypes :)
