The Chestnut Celebration in the village of Ellinopirgos/Karditsa/Greece

every 2nd Saturday of October (in 2016 on 8th of October)

Every second Saturday of October in the village of Ellinopirgos close to Karditsa there is a big celebration. It the season that chestnuts are ready to be cut from the trees. So there are so .. so ...many chestnuts in that village this period. The residents organize a big celebration about the goods that the local environment offer to them. They cook chestnuts on fire, they organize a dance show with traditional dances in the square of the village and they have a nice night with a unique way. This small local festival brings nature and folklore traditions together close to young and older people.


It is wonderful to be a part of it! Not only to eat chestnuts but mostly to enjoy yourself with a traditional way with folklore music and dances.
