f. European Values - Conference on the Future of Europe (EU)

  • What are European values?

    EU values are more important than ever. The basis of our society is respect for:

    ✔️ Human dignity

    ✔️ Freedom

    ✔️ Democracy

    ✔️ Equality

    ✔️ Rule of law

    ✔️ Human rights

    What is the Conference on the Future of Europe?

    The Conference on the Future of Europe is a unique and timely opportunity for European citizens to debate on Europe’s challenges and priorities. No matter where you are from or what you do, this is the place to think about what future you want for the European Union.

    The European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission have committed to listen to Europeans and to follow up, within their sphere of competences, on the recommendations made.

    What will be the outcome of the Conference?

    The final outcome of the Conference will be presented in a report to the Joint Presidency. The three institutions will examine swiftly how to follow up effectively to this report, each within their own sphere of competences and in accordance with the Treaties.

    By spring 2022, the Conference is expected to reach conclusions and provide guidance on the future of Europe.

    Make your voice heard! 2022 is the European Year of Youth, shining a light on the importance of European youth to build a better future – greener, more inclusive and digital. With plenty of opportunities to learn, share your vision, meet people and engage in activities all over Europe, the European Year of Youth is the moment to move forward with confidence and hope in a post-pandemic perspective.

    The European Citizens’ Panels are a key feature of the Conference on the Future of Europe.

    Four European Citizens’ Panels are organized to allow citizens to jointly think about the future they want for the European Union.

    • 4 Panels of 200 European citizens each chosen through random selection, from the 27 Member States;
    • Reflecting the EU’s diversity: geographic origin (nationality and urban/rural), gender, age, socioeconomic background and level of education;
    • At least one female and one male citizen per Member State is part of each Panel;
    • A third of each Panel is composed of young people (age 16 – 25). A special link between this youth group and the European Youth Event has been created.
