We involve the Libraries of our city

    POLAND-SP 2 CZECHOWICE-DZIEDZICE

Class 5B and a group of students from classes 5A and 5C.

On the 28th April we went to our Civic Library and took part in several activities concerning the topic of our project. We started with some gender stereotypes which we usually take from the society we live in, eg. women take care of children, men earn money. The consequences of stereoptypes are prejudices, exclusion and discrimination. Then each of us read short biographies of famous people, both men and women, including musicians, writers, scientists... Then we all stood on the line and decided whether those people had difficulties on the way of their careers. We made steps either forward or backwards. At the end we saw that women had more problems and were beyond the men.

We also solved interesting quizes about women in the world. Finally, we got know some famous women scientists and the librarian read us short stories about them. Then we could borrow the books and know better these amazing women.

Library councillor Irma Eandi came to the classroom a few times to read books to us.

We have activated the "book loan" with the Santena Civic Library. During the school year, our "special postwoman" brings us new books in class.

    8/03/2022

On Tuesday 8 March we went to the library to celebrate International Women's Day.
We visited a photo exhibition: we saw portraits of some important writers.

Above you can see a portrait of Rita Levi Montalcini, an important Italian scientist and writer!

The librarian told us the story of this woman and we reflected on gender inequality.

Then we borrowed some new books!
