We have organized the first Transnational Learning Activity Meeting between 31st of January and 6th of February. The meeting has been designed to initiliaze the project and focus on spreading the good practices of the partners in CLIL, and Moodle use in education.
MONDAY 1.2.2016
After an official welcome in Vocational Education Center Sedu Koulukatu facilities. Groups have been welcomed by the International Affairs Manager Mrs. Kirsi Lounela, she has briefed them of the international activities and mobilities involved by Sedu. The importance and priorities for Sedu and Vocational Education, she has commented on the importance of the personal branding and the competences that Blende project focuses.
Presentation of Blende project and updates by the Coordinator
Project have been presented by the presentation by Sabrina Schneider, Georg-Simon-Ohm-Berufskolleg, GERMANY and Ninetta Klara Ell, Debreceni Egyetem Balásházy János Gyakorló Szakközépiskolája, Gimnáziuma és Kollégiuma, HUNGARY.
The presentation model has been discussed and decided to be updated during the weeks’ deliberations. The tasks regarding the Moodle platform have been talked and put in to a form by the coordinator.
Presentation of Finnish Education System, VET system in Finland and Sedu by Özerk Göker
Finnish education system and Vocational education, and specifically VET Sedu and its teaching methods, and innovative training techniques have been presented.
Presentation of English language programmes in Sedu by the students
Students from the VQBA – Vocation Qualification of Business Administration presented their studies, and the Practical Nursing Qualification which is taught in English. They have shared their experiences in studying vocational content in a secondary language. The students and their teacher Mrs. Katre Pähkäkangas explained the methods, tools and practical topics used in the qualification and education in Sedu.
Discussions have been focused on the practical tasks of the project and the product. Moodle tasks and platform have been discussed, Coordinators have gathered the technical issues regarding the Moodle.

Groups have arrived to Sedu Lapua campus
Lapua campus is around 20 km from Seinäjoki, where the target group studies.

The visiting teachers have been introduced to the target group students, project have been presented to the target group from the partners’ point of view. A learning café type training activity was used to introduce the visitors and the concepts related to the project.

Project group moved from the Practical Nursing Learning facility to the computer room and the target group has been matched with their mentor teachers who are also the mentors of the Facebook groups. The groups worked on the task prepared by the Hungarian partners on the topic of Media and Media Ethics.
Coordinator has collected the Moodle related practical issues and design the Moodle Course to fit the needs of the Transnational and multicultural structure of the whole target group.The first replies to the tasks have been uploaded to the Moodle by the target group and the mentor teachers.
CLIL (Content Language Integrated Learning) sample case together with the students and the visiting teachers - CLIL – Sharing of experiences
Mr. Özerk Göker presented the CLIL method and practical CLIL workshops that have been used in Sedu. The concept has been used in many different vocational qualifications. The partners discussed the benefits of CLIL approach and the challenges of the use of the CLIL method.
Students and the visiting teachers have performed a practical CLIL based workshop, which integrates patient care vocational topic and English teaching.

Teacher experiences in Moodle, eTaitava and similar online platforms use by Mr. Esa Kankanpää
The teachers from Sedu talked about the use of Moodle and benefits. They also presented the use of augmented reality apps in education.
They have explained about eTaitava, the IT tool that Sedu uses to coordinate the practical training at the work period.

Finnish students presented the short video followed by the discussions regarding the project products and the practical arrangements of the future transnational meetings.
Discussion between project teachers
The Teachers studied the moodle-system for students how Sedu and other partners that use Moodle structure the learning materials and how it can be implemented in the project, to make it customer friendly for both the teachers and the students. The discussions about the tasks and Facebook groups have continued. Coordinator representatives took active role on Moodle discussions and gave presentations about their ideas on structuring the Moodle Course.

Innovations in Education: Entrepreneurship Education, Student Cooperatives by Jaakko Rinne
Mr Rinne presented the Student Cooperatives in Sedu which is used as a part of Vocational Studies and Entrepreneurship module integrated.
There are currently 80 students from different qualifications working under 8 supplementary business names and total turnover in 2014 was 85 822 €. The cooperatives function in ICT service, surface treatment and painting, household and cleaning service, upholstery and interior decoration, hairdressing, accounting, business information technology sectors. Teachers are guiding students in projects, but they should let the students fail and learn from their mistakes. The cooperatives are encouraged to handle projects the way they see is best. Teacher is the one who creates the culture. The activity gives student real time work opportunity and face time with real customers while directed by their teachers in a familiar environment.
Case: Young Entrepreneurship programme: OmaOnni digital program
3rd year students of Vocational Qualification in Business and Administration + Business Information Technology students have presented their Web-based learning environment. + educational games as a part of social study lessons. The program gives the students different type of studying, Learning by doing, Project know-how, Thesis and develops Professional skills.

Innovations in Education: visit to student cooperatives by Mr. Timo Haapalahti
The group visited Sedu campus in Kirkokatu Seinäjoki. They had an opportunity to observe the Student Cooperatives in action. Mr Timo Haapolahti who is the responsible teacher of Surface Treatment explained the pros and cons of using the programme from a teachers perspective.
The tasks and translations that needed to be done by the partners before Hungary have been decided by the Teachers’ group.

Innovations in Education: OpinLakeus Network, online tools, Digitutors by Mr. Matti Mäkelä

He has talked about the use of Moodle and Google Classroom and mentioned about the other tools’ training. He has briefed about the Digitutor programme.

Partners have experienced the Adobe Connect Pro and presented the pedagogical use of the programme.
