Transnational Meeting with students in Hungary - 10.-16. April 2016

    Day 1

    There was a Welcome Ceremony at Debrecen University, school maintainer of Balásházy School between 9 and 10 a.m.

    Between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Student Learning Activities were held in the main building of the University and there were school presentations, in which every student was involved to introduce their schools and the places where they were from. 

    After that they discussed in seperate groups about the competences they need in the labour market to be as successful as possible. After having finished the discussion their task was to present the results in front of the audience. The final task during the morning session was to work on common results concerning Moodle.

     

    After lunch all the groups were given to explore Debrecen by themselves and between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. there was a guided sightseeing tour to visit all the historical attractions and places with Webquest tasks.

    From 7 p.m. there was social dinner in one of the oldest, traditional Hungarian restaurant right next to one of the Reformed Churches of the City, Debrecen.

    Day 2

    Between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. there were Student Learning Activities at the University of Debrecen when the students had the chance to take part in simulated job-interviews to experience what it would be like when they apply for a job in the labour market in the near futuure. In the groups there were employers, would-be employees and the observers to analyze how they behaved in the interviews and what their strenghths and weaknesses were. In front the audience the task was to present the feedback. At the end of the morning session all the students were working on common results (Moodle).

    After lunch there was some free time to relax and prepare for the presentions at Agora (part of the University of Debrecen) and activities in which they could see how Physics and Astronomy work.

    From 7 p.m. there was dinner to socialize.

    Day 3

    Between 8:30 a.m. and 11:30 there were Student Learning Activities at the University of Debrecen in connection with Personal Branding when students had to look for idols for their future career and they had to hold presentations in groups. After these tasks there was a communication training. Finally, every students was working on common results concerning Moodle.

    After lunch all the groups set off for Hortobagy, the world-famous Great Plain, the Puszta of Hungary. The teachers and students took a carriage ride in the Puszta where they were shown flocks of white and black sheep, grey cows and horses. There was a riding show when a horse-rider were riding 5 horses at a time. The groups had their dinner in the Csarda of Hortobagy right next to the 9-Arch Bridge of Hortobagy.

    Day 4

    Between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. the groups were working at Medgyessy Ferenc Grammar and Vocational School in Debrecen. During the Student Learning Activities there were discussions in connection with labour market and personal branding. There was a presentation held by a Geography teacher on European Volunteer Service to motivate the students to participate in such programmes and let them know about all the opportunities. A film entitled Second Life was shown to the students to give them inspiration how they can improve their skills and abilities by finding their strengths and weaknesses.

    After lunch all the groups were invited to take part in a folk dance show at Medgyessy Ferenc Grammar and Vocational School to learn the basics steps and moves of traditional Hungarian folk dances.

    After dancing and having so much fun the hosts organized a barbecue party at the park of the school. The students had the chance to roast their own meals.

     

    Day 5

    Between 8:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Student Learning Activities were held at Medgyessy Ferenc Grammar and Vocational School and a film entitled When Different Cultures Meet was shown. There were Webquest-tasks and the students were made to work on common results (Moodle). In the closing session there was the evaluation of the project week.

    After lunch the groups were transported to an eco-school in Debrecen where there was a presentation on how the school functions, what innovations they have and how much that school is different from ohter schools in the country.

    Between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. the farewell party was organized at Silver Major Hotel and Restaurant where a traditional gypsy show was presente to the audience with songs and dances. The groups could taste traditional, Hungarian meals.
