Venø Efterskole is a boarding school, where we live, eat, sleep and study. These kinds of boarding schools are very popular in Denmark, because it helps youngsters be more responsible and grown up. It also helps to decide what to do the year after when you have to continue your education. Sometimes it helps young people who have a hard time socializing and finding friends, to improve their social skills and find friends and feel better about themselves. This kind of school is very unique, and there isn’t really anything like it, in other countries.

But there are a lot of such boarding schools in Denmark (Around 200), so why choose to travel far to Venø Efterskole?

Venø Efterskole has 4 selfchosen subjecs that you can focus on. Many come a long way from the other side of the country because they want to practice one of them. Especially the writing-line is rare in Denmark so it is fairly popular. Some people have personal relations to the island and some just want to go far away from home and everything they know.

The nature can very well be a factor. The nature on Venø is quite stunning, but there are no shops, no streetlights and little to no people. So yes… Sometimes it’s a bit isolated. But we find that most are very happy, living here as islanders.

Many boarding schools are very focused on sports and the like, while Venø is more chill

This is where all the people from our class is from. The blue star is Venø Efterskole.
