A presentation of towns where Greek and Danish students live in this FORUM

One of the Greek students (of group 5) presented the town where the Greek School is located, as follows:  

          Rafael: This is our town Mesopotamia - Kastoria.

Mesopotamia is a small town with many facilities.  Ιt is located  northwest of my county, 12kilometers southwest of the city of Kastoria. The name derives from the fact that it is surrounded by two tributaries of the Aliakmonas River. In the village there are a High School, a Primary school, and two kindergartens. In Mesopotamia a health center operates for the needs of the surrounding community. Two kilometers outside of Mesopotamia there is the Forest of Mesopotamia, where various local events are organized, during the spring and summer period. In Mesopotamia people feel safe and have solidarity with their fellows!

This is Venoe in Denmark (By Oscar) : 

 

 

Venoe (Venø) is a small island in northern Jutland. Venoe is also the only village on the island. Here is a picture of the village sign.

Very few people live on Venoe (about 200 people + 100 students) , but there is a church. It is the smallest church in Denmark. You have to ring the church bell standing outside the church. The students of the school have to go to church 3 times a year.

If you are a student on Venoe Efterskole, this is probably the most important place in the village - the shop where we can buy candy and a little bit of fastfood. In summer you can also buy ice cream. This is also where the villagers do small time shopping, such as milk. The kiosk is right next to the harbour.

To get to Venoe you have to go by ferry. This is the old ferry which is not used anymore. It´s in the habour next to the shop. The students who sail, surf and kayak spend a lot of time at the harbour. This is where the boats and surf boards of the surfing and sailing part of the school is located.

In Denmark a lot of people love to go camping. You find areas for camping everywhere also on Venoe. The area is closed in winter, but still some people live in a camper all year.

Tourist often visit Venoe in the summer. They camp or stay at Venoe inn. At Venoe inn you can get Venoe steaks, which are widely known across the country.
