Mobility to La Réunion - Day 1

  • Day 1 - MONDAY 28th June

    ICEBREAKER by our students.

     

    1. Welcome to Reunion Island, France! 

    Introduction about Roland Garros, the famous French aviator : 

    • French video (1 min.30), 
    • English slideshow by E+ Freedom Project. 

    Get around the island here ( and practise French!)

     

    GET TO KNOW St. Pierre, capital of the south of the island: 

     

    ACTIVITIES 

    • Look for our regional flag: how is it related to our island? Put it on the Twinboard
    • Locate Réunion Island on a map of the world. How far is it from your country? Twinboard
    • Make a list of all the things you know and heard of.  
    • Then create a fake- news headline about one cliché and post in the Put it on the Twinboard.

    REMEMBER to ask about those assumptions during our video call!

    before joining the project I must confess that I knew very little about Reunion, and one of the "mistake" was to assimilate it to Guadeloupe and Martinique... Now I know that I was soooo wrong!

    The Reunionese flag puts together the three elements of the island: sun, sea, mountains (I think)

    If you ask someone what does he/she knows about La Réunion, he/she will answer some strange things... like ... "it's an island somewhere in some ocean ... near to the Antilles? near to Maldives?"

    Fake news about La Réunion: we have discovered that Reunionese people don't belong to Europe. They only speak a strange "argot" called "Creole" which is without any doubt the sign that they are not European
