Reflections on our project

  •  Here are the reflections from pupils and teachers about this project.

Szkoła Podstawowa nr 9 im. Mikołaja Kopernika, Dzierżoniów, Poland

This eTwinning project was very interesting for us. We found out about Christmas traditions in many different European countries. about traditional dishes, when children get presents and Christmas songs. We liked writing and receiving letters from Ukrainian students. Students of class 6c

We liked the project a lot. We liked many activities: designing and voting for logo, singing Christmas carols with children from different countries, making and receiving Christmas cards, finding out about Christmas traditions in differnt countries. But what was most exciting for us were two videomeetings we took part in: with English and German students and next time with Ukrainian students. We loved writing and receiving letters from Ukrainian students. Using English for communication with foreign students was  an unforgetable experience for us.  Students of class 6b

What we remember from the project 'Christmas around Europe 2015' and liked most  is making Vokis to introduce ourselves, voting for logo and making Christmas decorations from the tutorials from partner schools. We loved seeing our cards in partner schools and receiving the cards from them as well. Taking part in vedeomeetings and talking to students from England, Germany and Ukraine was great! Students of class 4b

This project let students know Christmas traditions in different European countries and share their own experience connected with Christmas. Christmas is a subject loved by all children and they love talking and writing about this festival. The opportunity to talk to foreign students about Christmas tradition was a great experience as well. Exchanging thi ideas about Christmas decorations let students developtheir creativity and know new ideas they can use in the future. Writing letters to students from England and Ukraine made this project more interesting and valuable. Anna, teacher from SP9 Dzierżoniów, Poland

    Steeton School, England:

    Year 1-2:

We liked seeing the children in the different countries on the screen in the hall.  We liked the logos.  We liked singing with the other children, especially O Tannenbaum!  It was great calling to a different country.

    Year 3-4 groups:

We liked designing the logo, making the cards and decorations, the video call was amazing!  We loved receiving the cards from the other countries.  We learned some new languages.  It was interesting finding out where the countries are on the map.  We learned how to behave when talking to people in other countries.  We found out about Christmas and New Year in other countries.  Thank you!

Thank you - we loved the project!  We learned how to make lots of decorations.  We loved the video call!

    Year 5-6:

We enjoyed the conference call and we liked learning the Christmas songs such as O Tannenbaum and Silent Night.  We also enjoyed making and receiving Christmas cards.  Also we enjoyed doing the poems.

    Teachers:

I think this project has been very successful and the pupils have loved taking part.  They have enjoyed making the decorations, which has been good for practising their fine motor skills.  They have worked together, both in writing the instructions, and in following the instructions from the other schools.  They have learned that there are different celebrations at Christmas time - and that some countries celebrate Christmas on a different day from us in the UK.  Our whole school took part in the video conference call with Germany and Poland, and this is something which staff and pupils greatly value.

It was also very useful to use this project to mentor other teachers.  Several schools in England were able to find a partner school abroad to work with.  We hope that this may lead to further projects and also to Erasmus+ job-shadowing visits.

2-Designing the logo and voting to choose it was exciting and we practiced for our Maths lessons.

2-We used English to communicate with our partners as well as Spanish to write messages to our partners ant to write our opinnions about the Project within our Languages lessons .

3.We loved writing and receiving postcards from our partners.

4.We had lots of fun doing the crafts our partners shared with us. It was amzing to see they have tried ours too!

5-We learn a song with Oscar and Alicia the Music teachers to share with our partners by videoconference , it was our first time but we hope it is just the beginning for sharing more actvities with our partners.

6.We could try some of the activities with our Religion teacher, Marisé.

7.We learning to use mail, and some other tools to write our messages and prepare the pages for the crafts e-book.

8.Our school display was admired by others pupils and teachers at school who shared some of the activities we made within their lessons too. Families were very surprised and happy to see our works.

9.We´ve made lots of friends from different countries using English and Spanish to communicate to each other.
