Its principles

  • There are several theoretical principles or assumptions upon which suggestopaedic practice is always grounded. Most of these derive from Neuroscience and Psychotherapy while there are a few that relate to the Arts and Semiotics.

    There are unused capacities of the human brain/psyche

    Infantilisation (becoming children again)

    Learning is both conscious and unconscious

    Learning is not only cognitive but also affective and physical

    Peripheral perceptions are more important than what is being focused upon

    Whole-brain learning

    Passive knowledge (recognition) is of the same value as active knowledge (production)
