PostCrossing

  •

An ice-breaking activity to get the students to know each other by exchanging postcards anonymously and discovering their peers in twinspace based on their twinspace profiles and the tips given in the postcards.

    A sample of German postcards:

    A sample of Croatian postcards

Unfortunatelly we haven't been in our classrooms since the beginning of November - that's why our postcards are digital. We hope you like them anyway :)

Instructions on carrying out the activity:

    1. EACH STUDENT REGISTERS ON TWINSPACE AND WRITE HIS/HER PROFILE.

    2. EACH STUDENT WRITES 5 POSTCARDS (SEE DETAILS HEREAFTER) ONE FOR EACH PARTNER COUNTRY. PREFERABLY THE ILLUSTRATION SHOULD CORRESPOND TO THEIR LIKES/ACTIVITIES/OCCUPATIONS/ FEELINGS ETC.. SOMETHING THAT REPRESENTS THEM.

    3. THEY SIGN IT WITH A CODE  GIVEN BY THEIR TEACHER. THE STUDENTS MUST NOT MENTION THEIR ΝΑΜΕ ANYWHERE ON THE CARD. NEITHER SHOULD THE CARD STATE GENDER, AGE, COUNTRY, TOWN, SCHOOL.

    4. THE STUDENTS GIVE THE POSTCARDS TO THE TEACHER IN CHARGE.

    5. THE TEACHER SEND THEM TO THE PARTNERS COUNTRIES.

    6. THE TEACHER THAT RECEIVES THE POSTCARDS HANDS OUT THE POSTCARDS TO HIS/HER STUDENTS

    7. THE STUDENTS READ THE POSTCARDS AND TRY TO MATCH THEM WITH THE STUDENT PROFILES REGISTERED ON TWIN SPACE.

    8. ONCE THEY MATCH THE POSTCARDS WITH THE PROFILES, THEY WRITE VIA TWINSPACE TO THE STUDENTS THEY PICKED OUT, SENDING A PICTURE OF THE FRONT ILLUSTRATION. THIS WAY THE STUDENT RECEIVING THE POSTCARD CAN CONFIRM OR INFIRM EASILY THAT HE/SHE IS THE SENDER.

    9. IF THE MATCH IS NOT CORRECT THE FIRST TIME, THEY HAVE TO TRY AGAIN. WHEN THE STUDENT FAILS A SECOND TIME, HIS/HER TEACHER WILL THEN GIVE THE NAME CORRESPONDING TO THE CARD (SEE CODE LIST).
