Short Term Exchange Of Pupiıls Cyprus 10-14 October 2016

  • Introduction of the simple traditional herbal cures, mixtures and preparations. Each country will prepare a brochure including useful receipts. All brochures will be gathering together, will be created including the simple healthy mixtures and recipes taken from older people. And to gain the social awareness these brochures will be presented to the other schools.

    1th day

    1. “All recipes together”. The  meeting of all in the school

    Description: The teams give short presentations “My school, my brochure“– the topic has be chosen according to the project activities.

    2. A trip around Limassol

    Description: “Recipes brochure “

     Visitors will be introduced with typical plants from Cyprus and their healing properties- receipts.

    Focus on Subjects/Skills trained: presentation skills, self-presentation, communication and collaboration, team work, tolerance, participation and relevance, IT, Biology.

    Report: PowerPoint presentations or videos “My school, my brochure“, certificates.

    2nd day

    Topics/activities:

    1. Workshops “National cuisine“.

    Description: Mixed teams, using national recipes, prepare food for “European cup of tea“. They also make investigations about the benefit and damage for the human health.

    2. A visit to the some places to drink tea.

    Focus on Subjects/Skills trained: health education,  communication and collaboration, team work, PE, IT, technologies

    Report: PowerPoint presentation or video “National recipe“.

    3rd day

    Topics/activities:

    1. A meeting with the Limassol community members at the local Environmental Education Centre. In the center , a seminar  “ Herbs: health, wellness, beauty” will be attended by both teachers and pupils

    The Program aims to show students the value of herbs of Limassol and other regions of Cyprus, the easy use and the advantages towards conventional drugs. A  great variety in herbs, offered as an appropriate field for students who are in direct contact with them, observe them, the count, the smell, the record and many of these are testing.

    Focus on Subjects/Skills trained: Biology , health education,  communication and collaboration, team work.

    2. A trip to Nicosia.

    Description: A meeting with the specialist a member of naturist pharmacy.

    Seminar : “Grandmother receipes”

    4th day

    Topics/activities:

    1. A trip to Paphos ???

    Description: A visit to Botanical garden

    Practical training: seminar:” Healthy mixtures and  recipes taken from older people”:  Learn how to grow them, when to harvest the plants and some simple herbal preparations such as infusions and decoctions.

    Description: A meeting with  a  specialist

    Practical training: seminar “The healing power of herbs’: herbs are powerful healers when used correctly. This class includes a brief history of herbal medicine and information on several popular herbs

    The healing properties are known since ancient times. Hippocrates as the father of medical science has been reported many times in the healing properties of herbs. Today herbs seem as a promising new crop proposal for the following reasons:

    • Our country because of soil and climatic conditions is considered ideal for their cultivation.

    • They can use many types of soil, even in mountainous and disadvantaged areas.

    • There is an increased demand for their use by food companies, perfumery, cosmetics, etc., because they can replace chemicals by natural substances.

    • They have small requirements in inputs (drugs, fertilizers). They can be grown or organically cultivated very easily because they are not easily attacked by pests and diseases.
