svečano je otvorena u nedjelju, 5. rujna 1971. godine u 9,00 sati. Pred školskom zgradom okupilo se mnoštvo učenika, roditelja, nastavnika i profesora, predstavnika društveno-političkog života Međimurja i brojnih gostiju.

Šezdesetih godina prošlog stoljeća broj stanovnika u Čakovcu u stalnom je porastu čime se povećava i broj školskih obveznika. U čakovcu postoje dvije osnovne škole: I. i II. koje su izgrađene još u 19. stoljeću. Osim gradske djece polazi ih i dio obveznika iz bliže okolice grada. Broj učenika se neprestano povećava i tako je pokrenuta inicijativa za izgradnju nove škole.

Već u proljeće 1971. godine bilo je vidljivo da će školska zgrada biti gotova do kolovoza iste godine i da će nastava u novoizgrađenoj školi početi početkom nove 1971./1972. školske godine. Imenovan je i privremeni Savjet te škole i vršitelj dužnosti direktora Vladimir Kapun. Tako je ova škola počela i pravno postojati.

Istovremeno je sazrela i misao da se pitanje školskog prostora u Šenkovcu riješi pripajanjem te škole III. OŠ u Čakovcu tako da učenici predmetne nastave polaze tu školu, a Šenkovec da bude područna škola III. OŠ. S time su se suglasili organi upravljanja OŠ Šenkovec, mještani Mačkovca, Knezovca i Žiškovca i 30. lipnja 1971. g. donijeta je odluka o pripojenju.

Nastavničko vijeće III. OŠ prvi put se sastalo 28.kolovoza 1971. godine i uključilo se u pripremu otvorenja Škole i za početak rada. Svečano otvorenje školske zgrade obavljeno je 5. rujna 1971. godine u 9 sati. Svečanost je otvorio vršitelj dužnosti direktora Vladimir Kapun koji je bio direktor škole do veljače 1978. g.

6. rujna 1971. počela je redovita nastava u novoj III. OŠ u Čakovcu koja je imala oko 1000 učenika s područja grada, Šenkovca, Mačkovca, Žiškovca i Knezovca i 59 zaposlenih.

The number of students is constantly increasing and so the initiative to build a new school was launched.

As early as the spring of 1971, it was evident that the school building would be completed by August of the same year and that classes in the newly built school would begin in early 1971/1972. school year. The temporary Council of that school and the acting director Vladimir Kapun were also appointed. That is how this school began to exist legally.

At the same time, the idea of ​​resolving the issue of school space in Šenkovec by merging that school III. Elementary school in Čakovec so that the students of the subject attend that school, and Šenkovec to be the regional school III. AXIS. The governing bodies of the Šenkovec Primary School, the residents of Mačkovac, Knezovac and Žiškovac agreed to this, and on 30 June 1971 a decision was made to merge.

The grand opening of the school building took place on September 5, 1971 at 9 p.m. The ceremony was opened by Acting Director Vladimir Kapun, who was the school's director until February 1978.
