Let's take action!

  • The Jane Goodall Project

In our school, Majorana of Brindisi, the Erasmus Mission students joined a meeting aimed to introduce them the mobile recycling campaign organized by the Jane Goodall Institute. We talked about the uncontrolled mining of some particular elements that are needed to built the mobile phones; one of the most known of this elements is called Coltan. Coltan mininig is widespread in the Democratic Republic of Congo, causing soil erosion and  lakes and rivers pollution and affecting the hydrology and the ecology of the region. Besides, there is a huge problem related to child labour.

Phone refurbishment helps to reduce the demand for coltan mining.
