MODULE 3

  • MODULE 3 – STEREOTYPES & PREJUDICE

In the 3rd Module students are to discuss, discover, realize and hopefully overcome widely-held, obvious, conscious or subconscious stereotypes and prejudice against nations and cultures.

Students are first encouraged to think about what other people think of their country and the stereotypes that foreigners have about them and try to argue against them if they believe they are wrong. Then they are asked to “confess” their prejudice about other nations and cultures especially the participant ones!

Students work in pairs and/or groups and produce short writings on the above. Each institution can also create padlet walls to upload their questions to their partners on which they can receive feedback. In the third Skype session students can discuss their opinions and ideas.

The goal of this module is for the students to practise their language for argumentation (presenting/counter-acting/supporting opinions) and eventually overcome barriers that hinder understanding and respecting of otherness. Students will be also asked to create their own "I Have a Dream" speeches that will be published online.

    ICT tools: Padlet walls, e-books
