We celebrated the Carnival in our school. “Gaitanaki” is a traditional carnival dance. It is a colourful and funny dance!
There is a rod with many colored stripes around it. Each child keeps one of them and dances in a particular way.

Creeks celebrate Tsiknopempti which literally means "Thursday of the Smoke of Grilled Meat". It is celebrated 11 days before Clean Monday (which marks the start of the fasting period of Lent)since the week before Lent is considered meat-free (but not dairy-free), and Wednesday and Friday are generally considered days of fasting in the Greek-Orthodox christian tradition, this makes Tsiknopempti one of the last opportunities for people to eat meat, so this has traditionally led to the day acquiring a special festive character. Greeks celebrate by taking to the streets and consuming large quantities of grilled meat, such as souvlaki.
In our school we celebrated Tsiknopempti, we danced , dressed carnivals and enjoyed

Let the kites fly, it’s Clean Monday!
Clean Monday is the first day of the Lent that lasts until Easter. It is called “clean”,because the Christian believers purify themselves spiritually and physically by eliminating the consumption of meat, eggs and dairy products and by abstaining from sin.
Customs
Each region has its own customs but generally Clean Monday is celebrated outdoors. This celebration is called "koulouma'. People fly kites and have picnics. They eat special dishes such as seafood , legumes especially giant beans , fish roe dip, vegetables and an azyme bread called "lagana". As a sweet dessert, they eat a type of halva
My students sing a song on the kite and write wishes for all children the music of the song is Mikis Theodoraki who is a very famous composer in Greece
Greeks celebrate the 25th March a double holiday: a historical and a religious one. Greeks celebrate the War of Independence against the Ottoman Empire. The “Greek Revolution” was a successful war of independence waged by the Greek revolutionaries between 1821 and 1830.Greek Orthodox Church celebrates the Annunciation by archangel Gabriel to the Virgin Mary that she should become the mother of Jesus Christ the Son of God. 25th March is exactly nine months before Christmas! My country marks the double holiday with two things: Parades and Bakaliaros (Cod fish) A custom across the country on this day is to eat crispy, fried Cod fish with garlic sauce (Bakaliaros skordalia)
