Thursday Day 1

  • We visited ZOV - Zagreb Wastewater, a company dealing with wastewater treatment in the city of Zagreb. Mrs. Astrid Werbolle introduced us to the plant's working methods and the use of purified water. We found out that water analyzes show how much and what kind of medicine residents use, when there are more patients with COVID-19, how settled sludge is used and energy is obtained by burning it.

Tour of the Maksimir park and its lakes with the expert guidance of ranger Lana Jelić. She introduced us to the restoration of some lakes, the cultural and natural significance of the park for the residents of Zagreb.

We talked about interesting animals and plants that are part of Maksimir, shared interesting promotional materials about the living world of Maksimir and celebrated the birthday of a student from Slovakia.

    A pleasant afternoon.

We organized the evening activities as an introduction to the participants.

We photographed some macrozoobenthos organisms and made a puzzle out of their pictures.

We distributed the puzzle to the students who had to find their international group and put together the puzzle, name the animal, say something about its life cycle and then get to know each other through various topics (what I like to eat, what music I listen to, do I have a brother or sister, what movies do I like , which subjects at school I prefer to attend).
