Group 3 - Basketball

  • Our team is consist of five people. First we decided to write about basketball, because it is very popular in this times, and it has a lot of benefits. Some of the people in our team found the information and wrote the text and some others chose the photos. Then we made a video in which our basketball player was throwing a ball into the basket. At the end our video was ready. 

     

    What basketball actually is?

    Basketball is a team game played between two teams of five players in which goals are scored by throwing a ball through a netted hoop fixed at each end of the court. 

     

    Why is It called basketball?

    In early December 1891, James Naismith, a Canadian physical education teacher at Springfield College in Springfield, Massachusetts, invented an indoor game called basketball. He invented the sport to keep his students from becoming bored during the winter. 

     

    How basketball is played? 

    In basketball, players on teams of five compete to achieve the most points at the end of the designated time. Teams score points by throwing the basketball into the team's respective metal hoop, located at each end of the court. To achieve this, players move the ball to their team's end of the court by dribbling or passing the ball to other players. The ball can be passed with one or both hands, but once both hands touch the ball, the same player cannot dribble it again. Players cannot walk with the ball and cannot kick it.

    Players score two points for baskets made inside the designated three-point line, and three points for shots made when the player is standing outside that line. Free throws score one point. A player takes a free throw shot when she has the ball as an offensive player and then is the victim of a foul, such as an elbowing from a defensive player.

    1. Kobe Bryant- was an American professional basketball player. ( August 23, 1974- January 26, 2020)
    2. LeBron James- is an American basketball player of the Los Angeles Lakers of the NBA.
    3. Michael Jordan- is an American player and the principal owner of the Charlotte Hornets of the NBA.
    4. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar- played 20 impressive seasons and is considered one of the most effective and famous NBA player in history.
