Pippi Longstocking in Slovenia

  • Even before Pippi arrived to Slovenia our 7 and 8 year old students attending classes 2a and 2b started practicing Pippi's song. Even during the breaks anyone passing their classroom could hear them singing.

The girls brough their Pippi wigs and costumes and they all felt like movie starts when the senior students came to record their song.

     THE MAP

The teachers and the school's caretaker hung a big map of Europe on the wall in fron of the classroom and each day the pupils would stop to see if Pippi had moved or simply, to find some new and interesting site somewhere in Europe.

Time went on and questions like 'Is she here? Where is she now?' became very common.

Finally Pippi arrived. Every one was thrilled - the teachers in the staff room and the pupils in the classroom.

The students visited the library, read her books and comics and wrote about her adventures at Slovene lessons.

They draw Pippi in art lessons and put up a class exhibition of drawings and books.

     She helped us with math...

... and joined us on our hikes round the school.

We showed her the school beehive.

and fooled round with her in the breaktime :)

THANK YOU, PIPPI, FOR STOPPING BY
