PROJECT PLAN
1. Up to Friday October 18th: Drawing/Choosing the project logo
2. Up to October 31st: Introduction of teachers/students/schools (see the relevant pages)
3. November 2019: Experiments and drawings. Each partner school conducts one or more easy experiments. They record a video of the process and write a short guide on how to conduct the experiment(s). In the guide, they can have two sections, e.g. Required Materials and Instructions. The students in each school then draw each experiment. They match the drawings with the guides and create a collaborative e-book. Throughout the schoolyear, each school will conduct partner experiments and present them through live meetings.
4. December 2019: Upcycling. The teacher starts the activity with a discussion about recycling. Pupils talk about how and what they recycle at home and at school. They think about products that are made out of recycled materials. They discuss how they can reuse waste materials in a creative way. Reusing waste materials and unwanted products is known as upcycling. Pupils bring waste materials to school, e.g. plastic bottles, jars and milk cartons, and create something new and useful, such as Christmas souvenirs and decorations, pencil holders and pencil cases, wallets, bracelets etc. They send their new useful products to their partner schools by post. Using Piktochart (https://create.piktochart.com/) we create beautiful flyers and present our products.
5. January 2020: Talking geometry. The teacher provides pupils with coloured paper and scissors. Pupils draw different polygons and cut them out. Working in teams, they use the cut-outs to create objects, such as robots, animals, fruits and vegetables, etc. They take photos of their polygon collages and publish them in Twinspace. Using Blaberrize (https://blabberize.com), pupils from partner schools choose a photo and add a narrative voiceover as a description of the object their peers created. They embed their talking images in the Twinspace.
5. February-March 2020: What plants want. In each school pupils plant the same types of plants in pots, but they place them on different spots in their classrooms. For example, in one school they put the plant on the windowsill, in another school, they put it in a shaded place, in the third school they place it near a computer. All pupils devise a plan when the plants should be watered. They also decide on the time schedule when they will measure, weigh and photograph their plants. They observe how the plants are growing and document the growth by posting photos on Twinspace. After several weeks they compare their results and they write them on a collaborative Padlet wall.
6. April-May 2020: Animals in a multilingual dictionary. Pupils learn about animals in their partner countries. A Padlet wall is created with three different columns: one column for animals living in each partner country, another one for endangered animals in each country and the third one for extinct animals or animals that used to live in their country. Pupils add photos or their own drawings to each page. After they have collected a number of photos and information on their Padlet wall, students create a multilingual dictionary. They add a column for each of their native languages and complete the words; they also add animal photos and relevant information. Tool used: Google Slides.
7. May-June 2020: Two stars and a wish. Pupils reflect on their learning by writing two things that they liked in the project (stars) and one thing they had problems with or would like to do in a different way in the next project (wish).
Also, a common ebook is created, containing all students collaborative work.
