02 Wakelet collections

  • We are preparing for Safer Internet day. Students have embarked on a journey to become Wakelet ambassadors. Each week they will do another task an hopefully earn the final badge by middle March.     TASK 1: All about me!

    Create your Wakelet account and then:

    1. Create a collection about yourself with at least 15 items included.
    2. Showcase talents, favourite things, and hobbies.   
    3. Share a place you would like to live or visit.   
    4. Share your collection with your lead educator and a peer.   

    Special Note: *Students MUST use photos made for reuse or their own photos*

    TASK 2: Critical Thinking: Perspective

    1. Share your collection with your lead educator and a peer. 
    2. Use 5 different and credible sources to illustrate both sides of the argument. (total of 10 sources) 
    3. Choose a topic such as climate change, social media use, teacher pay, cybersecurity, etc.  
    4. Create a collection that shows 2 sides of an argument.

    TASK 3: Creativity: Design It!

    1. Share your collection with your lead educator and a peer. 
    2. Create a short video on Flipgrid to explain your design choice, the process you used and any obstacles you encountered. Copy and paste this Flipgrid video  
    3. Create a collection using Wakelet to share your design. 
    4. The flag should reflect diversity, communication and a sense of community!
    5. Using the creative tool of your choice, design a flag for the Global Wakelet Student Ambassador program.

    TASK 4: Collaboration: The Team Playlist

    1. Create a new collection. 
    2. Create a shared music playlist with 3 other classmates using the collaboration feature on Wakelet. 
    3. Each student should add at least 4 school appropriate songs. 
    4. Include song titles, artists and year. 
    5. Share your collection with your lead educator and share with 3 other classmates

    TASK 5 Communication: Student’s Choice Presentation

    1. Pick a current event topic. 
    2. Create a new collection with the same name as your topic. . 
    3. Create a presentation about the topic using the presentation tool of your choice (Google Slides, PowerPoint, Prezi, Buncee, ect)
    4. Include title, name, date.
    5. Create 6 slides communicating the history, the relevance, and your solutions. Include multimedia such as graphics, videos , infographic, or GIFS. 
    6. Add your presentation to your Wakelet collection. 
    7. Use this collection to cite at least 5 sources. 
    8. Share your collection with your lead educator and schedule your presentation time! 

    TASK 6 Final Task Final Ambassador Showcase

    1. Build your Digital Portfolio on Wakelet! Add collections to your profile, showcasing your best school moments, achievements, experience and hobbies.
    2. Research examples of digital portfolios. 
    3. What type of information goes on a portfolio?
    4. What is the difference between LinkedIn and a basic resume?
    5. Why is design important to a portfolio? 
    6. Edit your Wakelet Profile to showcase your work. 
    7. Add appropriate sections under your profile.. 
    8. These sections are not limited. Choose sections that best apply to you and your talents. 
    9. Examples: Digital Portfolio, Examples of Work, Collections, Videos, Content Creation, Resume, Contact Me (social media links) 
    10. Add at least 1-2 wakelet collections to each section of your profile (portfolio)
    11. Share your collection with your lead educator!
