ŞEHİT NURULLAH SARAÇ ANADOLU LİSESİ-GERZE/SİNOP

  • ŞNSAL is a rural high school (refers to 9th-12th grades), located in Gerze - Sinop in the North-West Black Sea region of Turkey, a scarcely populated area. Gerze is a cittaslow labelled city with its clean nature, handicrafts, local cuisine and hospitality of the people. Many inhabitants of  Gerze are fishers, farmers-practicing subsistence agriculture, public officers and retired people. Most of our students enjoys living in this peaceful and quite environment.

    Our school is the only general high school in the town,  which gives even greater importance to the educational effort being made to it. Every year a significant number of our graduates succeeds to attend universities all around the country giving joy, hope and satisfaction to the local community. It comprises  about 300 students and 25 teachers. The school structure consists of a library, a science laboratory, a multipurpose hall, 12 clasrooms, directory rooms and sports fields. All the classes are equipped with a smartboard and wireless internet connection. The interests of our staff are wide in scope and cover fields as Maths, Turkish, Geography, History, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Philosophy and foreign languages. English is the major foreign language taught at the school for 4 hours per week. German language is taught for 2 hours per week. There are also optional courses such as drama, contemporary history, social studies, entrepreneurship,etc. Several eTwinning projects are being carried out at the school and most of our students actively take part in these projects. Students are interested in getting to know other people, other cultures and learn new foreign languages. We have good communication skills in foreign languages and also use ICT tools on a regular basis. The school has already cooperated on two European Union granted projects under Comenius and Erasmus+ programmes.
