How Long Does My Trash Live?

You will need:

gloves

shovel

a napkin

an aluminum foil

an apple peel

a small plastic bottle

4 small signs

Divided into groups, go out to the school garden or find a flower pot and bury the four materials in the soil: paper towel, aluminum foil, apple peel, plastic bottle. Apply a label on top of each material to indicate what is buried there and pour some water. You can also plant some lentils if you like.

Then guess what will happen to the materials below if they are left buried for two months and fill out the form (rubbish lives - name of your country) with your classmates.

After two months dig out the materials and see what really happened. Were your assumptions correct? What has happened to each material?
