Sweden

  • Sweden, Fridaskolan in Trollhättan          Name: Åsa Sylvan

The Frida school is a company, running five schools in different towns within 100 km of each other. I work at the one in Trollhättan, 80 km north of Göteborg. We have about 550 pupils at the moment, but we are expanding, next semester will we be 600. Fortunately we are a popular school and have a long waiting line. Like most swedish pupils they are very good in english.

Our vision is to educate backpackers. Students that can solve problems, take own initiatives and be social. We are very well equipped with computers. All students from 12 years of age have there own computer and the younger ones have ipads. The last two years we have worked a lot with cooperative learning.

Our school has a swan labeled, which is a Eco label.

I teach grade 7-9 (14-16 years old) in maths and science.

In Sweden ali pupils get lunch in school for free and in our school are we very proud of our good food. Its healthy with lots of vegetables, it’s locally produced and its ecologic.
