A total of 49 students and 12 teachers were welcomed by the headmaster of the SZ Geschwister Scholl, by the director of the local school department.

    Aim

The project had the aim of promoting students learning on the industry of wind energy and how this helps to the sustainability of the world.

    Methodology

In order to achieve the aims presented before, different kinds of methodology were used, such as:  lecturing new information, demonstrating on computers, collaborating of all participants, classroom discussions, demonstrating and realization of experiments, team work, excursions, presentations, problem based learning.

    Benefit for students

The use of English in the project improved students´ English language skills although in scientific vocabulary. For some of them it was the first contact with the language outside the school. Working in international groups, students had to communicate well with each other and learned about, and work with, students from different social, economic and cultural backgrounds. Students mostly lived with host families when visiting partner schools. They understood the connection between social and economic changes in this part of Europe. They developed a sensibility for their own use of energy. This increased their understanding of daily life, cultures and the language.

Working with students from other schools motivated students to do their best to fulfill set tasks.

The use of software in different subjects increased competences in mathematics and natural sciences. Furthermore, visualisation of natural science and mathematics through the use of different software lead to an increased motivation for the students. Solving real-life problems motivated them even further. Students were acquainted with working life: they were introduced to similar software that they are going to use later in their educational and professional life and the students were confronted to meet deadlines and gave presentations to others about their work.
